
is the para-hydroxyl derivative of cefalexin a cephalosporin antibiotic of the first generation for oral application. It has a bactericidal action in that cefadroxil suppresses synthesis of the bacterial cell wall. The greatest advantage of CEFADROXIL VATCHEM® is its high bioavailability (95%). The following organisms are highly sensitive to cefadroxil: ß-haemolytic streptococci, pneumococci and staphylococci.
CEFADROXIL VATCHEM® is suitable for the treatment of infections caused by cefadroxil-sensitive organisms such as:
| Infections of the upper respiratory tract as acute and chronic otitis media and sinusitis, pharyngitis, tonsillitis, laryngitis; Infections of the lower respiratory tract like acute and chronic bronchitis, bronchopneumonia, and bacterial pneumonia; Infections of the urogenital tract as uncomplicated and complicated urinary tract infections; such as cystitis, pyelonephritis, adnexitis, urethritis, prostatitis, salpingitis; Infections of the skin and soft tissues like abscess, furuncles, impetigo, pyodermia, erysipelas, lymphadenitis, and wound infections; Infections of the bones and joints as osteomyelitis. The average dosage levels of CEFADROXIL VATCHEM® for children with normal renal function consists of 25-50 mg/kg body weight given in one (1) single dose or in two (2) equal divided doses (at 12-hour interval) per day. The dose can be increased to one hundred (100) mg/kg body weight depending of the severity of the infection and susceptibility of the causative agent. The reconstituted suspension of CEFADROXIL VATCHEM® is taken with a liberal quantity of fluid and can be taken with food that is not influence the therapeutic effect. If properly stored (below 25°C, protected from light and moisture) CEFADROXIL VATCHEM® retain its full potency up to 36 (thirty-six) months from the date their production shown on the both label of the bottle and pack.
